Particles in Water - Cloudy Water - Side by Side Refrigerator
Possible Solutions
White Particles in Ice Cubes
White particles in melting ice are actually minerals in your water. All water contains some dissolved minerals, and areas with high mineral content are considered to have "hard water". The particles are usually calcium carbonate.
The colder water becomes, the less capable it is of suspending minerals. As water turns to ice, these particles begin to show up. An originally dissolved mineral has been converted to a visible form. They are a normal occurrence, especially in areas with hard water.
Does your water filter need to be replaced?
It is recommended that the water filter be replaced every 6 months when the indicator light comes on, or as needed. A clogged water filter can cause several issues including particles in the water. Replacing your water filter regularly will help reduce the number of containments in the water supply.
Was the water system flushed after filter installation or replacement?
Flushing the system is needed every time the filter is changed or once the refrigerator is installed to the water supply line for the first time. The air in the water system may cause dripping at the dispenser, small/hollow ice cubes, or a cloudy appearance in the water quality.
