Lid Light Flashing
Possible Solution
Is the lid closed?
Your previous washer may have filled and washed with the lid open.
- Some newer washers will not fill or wash with the lid open. The lid must be closed for the machine to fill with water, wash, drain, rinse, and spin the load. Close the washer lid before starting the washer.
- Some will fill with the lid open, but will not advance if the lid remains open. The washer will drain after 10 minutes if the lid stays open.
Was the cycle just started?
When the Start/Pause button is touched, the washer will perform a self-test on the lid lock mechanism. You will hear a click, the basket will make a slight turn, and the lid will unlock briefly before locking again.
NOTE: Avoid opening lid during sensing. The sensing process will start over when the washer is restarted. The sensing light may also come on during the Wash portion of the cycle. This is normal.
Is the Lid Locking?
- Check for lock interference with the lock striker (packaging material and/or item of clothing). The lock striker is the piece on the lid that fits inside the lid lock. See picture below. Note that the lock striker may be located in a different position on the lid, depending on your model number.
- Check for wash media build-up (detergent, lint, etc.) at or near the lock or lock striker. Use a soft, damp cloth or sponge to wipe away any spills. Use only mild soaps or cleaners when cleaning external washer surfaces.
