Washer is Vibrating, Walking or Moving
Maytag Front Load Washer is Vibrating or Walking
If your washer has a vibration, seems to "walk" across the floor, is making a thumping or banging noise, or seems off-balance, there may be an issue with the installation.
Were the Shipping Bolts removed at installation?
It is necessary to remove all shipping materials for proper operation, to avoid excessive vibration, and to prevent unusual noises from the washer.

Are all four feet making firm contact with the floor?
Front and rear feet must be in firm contact with the floor, and the washer must be level to operate correctly. Grip the washer from the top and rock back and forth, ensuring all four feet are firmly on the floor. Repeat, rocking the washer from side to side. If the washer rocks, adjust the leveling feet per the installation instructions. If all four feet are in firm contact with the floor, tighten the jam nuts against the washer's base. Jam nuts must be tight against the bottom of the cabinet.
If the washer is installed with a pedestal, be sure the mounting screws are tight, the pedestal's feet are in firm contact with the floor, and the foot lock nut is tight to the frame. Please refer to the Installation Instructions for additional information.
Is the Washer level?
The washer must be level, or it will vibrate. Check the floor for flexing or sagging. Do not install the appliance on a raised wooden platform.
Is the washer overloaded?
Avoid tightly packing the load. Clothing should move freely within the washer. Overloading can cause extra wear and tear on the machine, as well as on the garment.
Were you washing a Bulky item by itself?
Avoid washing single items, especially bulky items. Balance a single item, such as a rug or jeans jacket, with a few extra items.
