Door Will Not Lock or Unlock - Front Load Washer
Possible Solutions
Door Locked at Installation
In some circumstances, your new washer may arrive with the door locked. This can occur from normal shipping movement.

Door will not lock
Verify that there is nothing blocking the door and the lock mechanism. Always clean the door area for soap build up.
Door Locked at the end of the Cycle
Were you using a "Fresh Hold" cycle (available on some models)?
- When using one of these cycles, the door will remain locked until the cancel button is pushed. This is normal.
If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle, unplug the washer or disconnect power. Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset.
Reconnect power to washer (plug in). Run a "Drain and Spin" cycle. The door should unlock after this is complete. If not, call for service.
Door will not stay Open
If the door will not stay open, verify that the washer is level. The door should stay in place when open, but if the unit is not level, it could swing more easily.
