Installing a Maytag Steam Clothes Dryer
If you've recently purchased a Maytag steam dryer, you're about to enjoy the convenience and efficiency of steam technology. This comprehensive guide will take you through every step of installing your new appliance, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free process. Have you ever wondered how the steam option works in a dryer? During the steam cycles, water is sprayed for about 4-5 minutes into the cycle for about 1 minute. The spray may not be visible.
Step-by-Step Installation Process
Installing your Maytag steam dryer is a straightforward process that can enhance your laundry experience. Follow these steps for a successful steam dryer installation: NOTE: Do not over-tighten the couplings. Damage to the coupling can result.
- Turn the cold water off, remove, and replace the rubber washer. Check to see if the rubber washer is in the “Y” connector. Remove the old rubber washer from the inlet hose and replace it with the new rubber washer provided.
- Attach a short hose and a “Y” connector. Attach the short hose to a cold water faucet. Screw on coupling by hand until it is seated on faucet. Then attach the “Y” connector to the brass male end of the short hose. Screw on coupling by hand until it is seated on connector.
- Tighten couplings. Using pliers, tighten the couplings with an additional two-thirds turn.
- Attach the long hose to the “Y” connector and tighten couplings. One end of the long hose has a wire mesh strainer inside the coupling. Attach this end to the “Y” connector. Attach the washer's cold inlet hose to the other side of the “Y” connector. Screw on coupling by hand until it is seated on connector. Using pliers, tighten the couplings an additional two-thirds turn.
- Attach the long hose to the dryer fill valve and tighten the coupling. Attach the other end of the long hose to the fill valve at the bottom of the dryer's back panel. Screw on coupling by hand until it is seated on fill valve connector. Using pliers, tighten the couplings an additional two-thirds turn. Using pliers, tighten the couplings with an additional two-thirds turn.
- Turn on the cold water faucet.
- Check for leaks. Check for leaks around the “Y” connector, faucets, and hoses.
Troubleshooting Steam Dryer
If, after installation, the steam cycle is not working, check the following:
- Make sure the water is connected to the dryer and turned on.
- Ensure the water inlet hose is connected to the faucet and the dryer's water inlet valve.
- Verify that the inlet hose is not kinked or clogged.
- Ensure a Steam cycle was selected.
Remember, the steam or water spray may not be visible during the cycle.
