Dryer Too Hot
Possible Solutions
What cycle was selected?
There is a difference between automatic cycles and timed dry cycles, along with cycle option selections.
- Timed Dry: With Timed Dry, the dryer runs the amount of time set and sometimes results in shrinkage, wrinkling, and static due to over-drying. Use Timed Dry for the occasional damp load that needs a little more drying time or when using the drying rack.
- Automatic Cycle: During Automatic Cycles, drying air temperature and moisture level are sensed in the load. This sensing occurs throughout the drying cycle and the dryer shuts off when the load reaches the selected dryness. Use the NORMAL dryness level to provide optimal energy savings.
- Temp Selection: Temp Touch to modify the cycle’s available temperatures (Air Only, Low, Medium, Medium High, High). Follow garment label instructions for best results.
Is airflow restricted?
A dryer needs to have proper airflow to operate efficiently and properly. Check the following to ensure airflow:
- Lint Screen: Needs to be cleaned after each cycle
- Dryer Vent: Not crushed, bent or obstructed. Venting going to the outside of the home must be cleaned every one to two years or as required when dry performance has decreased.
- Outside Vent Hood: Not clogged or blocked. It is possible for debris, such as animal nests, flowers, rocks, bushes, or snow, to obstruct the venting.
Test Vent Kit
