Leaking from the Ice Maker - Side by Side Refrigerator

Possible Solutions

Was the water system flushed after filter installation or replacement?

Flushing the system is needed every time the filter is changed or once the refrigerator is installed to the water supply line for the first time.  The air in the water system may cause dripping at the dispenser or small/hollow ice cubes.

Is the water filter installed correctly?

If the water filter is incorrectly installed it can reduce the water flow to the ice maker, which will cause small ice cubes or low ice production.

CLICK HERE for additional information on how to install your water filter.

NOTE: If your water filter is located below the crisper drawer, make sure the water filter is locked into place and the arrows are aligned.

Is there a loose water connection?

Check for water at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment, hinge area, or by household connection in the back of the product.  A loose water connection could cause the water dispenser to drip occasionally or continuously.

Is the water filter damaged?

  • Remove the filter and inspect it for cracks or damage.
  • If the filter is cracked or damaged, replace the filter with a new one.

Are the o-rings correctly installed on the filter?

  • Be sure the O-rings are still in place.
  • If the O-rings are damaged or missing replace the filter.
