What Does “Garage-Ready” Mean?

“Garage-ready” indicates a refrigerator designed and tested to operate properly in non-climate-controlled environments where temperatures can swing from near-freezing winter lows to warm summer highs. These models are built to maintain safe internal temperatures despite ambient fluctuations, protecting both fresh food and frozen items. Core attributes of garage-ready design include:

• Controls calibrated for a wider ambient temperature range than typical indoor appliances.
• In certain models, separate temperature management for the freezer compartments to protect both zones across varied ambient conditions.

By contrast, placing a non-garage-ready refrigerator in a garage can lead to performance challenges. When to Change to “Garage Mode”?

Monitoring temperature settings:

• Use recommended temperature setpoints —commonly around 37°F for fresh food and 0°F for the freezer.
• Avoid overpacking; maintain airflow around shelves, vents, and sensors to support balanced cooling.
