Display of Time Remaining Seems Long

Time Displayed Seems Long on my Maytag Front Load Washer

The time displayed during a cycle estimates the time to complete the load. This estimated time remaining is based on: size and type of load, cycle selection, option selection, household water temperature and pressure, and unbalanced load detection.

During excessive suds or unbalanced load conditions, the estimated time remaining on your washer may differ from the actual cycle time. On some models, a sensing indicator light will glow while the washer is revising the estimated time remaining.

If excessive suds or an unbalanced load occurs, then the estimated time remaining may stay at one value for a long period of time, or jump to zero at the end of the cycle. To avoid long cycle times due to additional rinsing caused by over-sudsing, always use only HE High-Efficiency detergent.

Are you using HE or High-Efficiency Detergent?

Use only HE or High-Efficiency detergent. Always measure detergent. If you have very soft water, you may need to use less detergent. Using non-HE detergent or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount can cause excessive suds. The excess suds can cause the washer to run at a reduced spin speed, resulting in very wet loads, or error codes to appear.

Have you performed the "Clean Washer" cycle?

Run the Clean Washer cycle every 30 cycles to maintain washer freshness. This procedure helps keep odors from developing in your washer. The Clean Washer cycle uses higher water volumes in combination with affresh® washer cleaner or liquid chlorine bleach to clean the inside of the washer.

Unload the washer as soon as the cycle is complete.

Cleans even where you can't see

affresh® cleans deep inside your appliances reaching components such as the tub, racks, pump, valves, drain, and recirculation hoses.

Cleaners are available at many retailers or can be purchased here.

Is your washer level?

The washer must be level.  If not, the load may become unbalanced, causing the machine not to spin correctly.  This can also cause the washer to have excessive noise and/or vibration, especially during the Spin cycle.
