Lid Lock Flashing - Washer

Possible Solutions

Lid Lock Light Flashing:

The Lid Lock Light will flash if:

  • Lid Lock has not moved into the Lock Position
  • The Lock Motor can not be powered
  • The lid is not closed completely due to interference

Some models will lock immediately, while others will not lock until after the wash cycle has started. Refer to your Owner's Manual to determine which model you have.

Are you pressing and holding the Start button?

You may need to press and hold the start button for up to 3 seconds to engage the cycle.

Is the Lid Locking?

  • Check for lock interference with the lock striker. The lock striker is the piece on the lid that fits inside the lid lock. See picture below. Note that the lock striker may be located in a different position on the lid, depending on your model number.
  • Check for wash media build-up (detergent, lint, etc.) at or near the lock or lock striker.  Use a soft, damp cloth or sponge to wipe away any spills. Use only mild soaps or cleaners when cleaning external washer surfaces.

Is the Control Set Correctly?

Make sure the selector knob is lined up with a cycle selection and the start button has been pushed.  The washer will not start if the selector is not placed on a cycle selection. Set the selector to the desired cycle, like Normal, and push the start button.
