Washer Continuously Runs, Starts a New Cycle or Will Not Shut Off - Top Load

Possible Solutions

Is the washer in a "Continuous Test Mode". The following are instructions to turn this mode off.

Please note that these instructions cannot be sent to the consumer.

Advise that the washer is in a test mode and you can give them the steps to get it out of test mode. If at any time the consumer appears to be unable to perform this procedure, schedule service, and advise the consumer to unplug or disconnect power to the washer until service comes out.

It may be beneficial to read through the steps with the consumer first, then try walking through the instructions together. The instructions are somewhat complicated, and not easy to follow while reading through.

Is the Washer in Stand-By mode (plugged in with all indicators off)?

The washer must be in Stand-By mode to set the sequence of turning off the washer.

To get the washer in Stand-By mode, plug washer in. Press and hold the Start/Pause button for 3 seconds. All indicator lights should be off at this point.

Reset the Washer:

To reset (clear) the washer, rotate the Cycle Selector Knob counter-clockwise (left) to clear any sequence.

Follow Test Mode Procedure:

Please note that steps 1 through 5 must be completed between 3 and 6 seconds:

  1. Rotate the cycle selector knob Clockwise (right) 1 click and wait ½ second
  2. Rotate the cycle selector knob Clockwise (right) 1 click and wait ½ second
  3. Rotate the cycle selector knob Clockwise (right) 1 click and wait ½ second
  4. Rotate the cycle selector knob Counter-Clockwise (left) 1 click and wait ½ second
  5. Rotate the cycle selector knob Clockwise (right) 1 click

All LED lights (except lid locked) should be flashing ON and OFF in ½ second intervals.  See picture below (on and off - note that LED names may vary).

If all lights flashing (except Lid Locked) continue to next step:

Follow next steps in Test Mode Procedure:

  1. Rotate the cycle selector knob (either direction) until the LED lights display with ONLY "Wash, Rinse, and Done" turned on. See picture below. For units with a display, "13" should show in the display.

Wash, Rinse and Done option LED are ON

  1. Press the Start Button once
  2. Unplug the washer or disconnect power. Wait 10 seconds, and reconnect power. Washer should not start and all LED's should be off. If washer does not automatically start, the process is complete. Link the information and document as a Save a Call.
  3. If the washer restarts within 10 seconds, schedule service.
