Common Reasons for Beeping

 A frequent cause of a washing machine's beep is cycle completion alerts. Many modern washers, including Maytag models, are designed to notify you when a wash cycle is finished. This beeping serves as a reminder to remove your laundry promptly. If you hear the sound of a washing machine, check the washer’s display for the cycle status and open the door to retrieve your clothes.

Another common reason a washer makes a beeping noise is invalid cycle prompts or errors. Not all modifiers can be used with all cycles.  Trying to add or change a modifier that is not part of the selected cycle could prompt a beep.  Verify cycle options by referring to the "Cycle Guide" that came with your specific model.  If your washer incurs an error, the washer may beep to alert you that the cycle has stopped.  Refer to the troubleshooting guide on this site for additional information. 

Water supply problems can also trigger beeping alerts. If your washer is not receiving adequate water—whether due to closed valves, kinked hoses, or issues with your home's water supply—it will signal this with beeping noises. Verify that the water supply valves are fully open and that hoses are properly connected and free of blockages. Addressing these common issues can help restore your washer to normal operation, eliminating those bothersome sounds of the washing machine.

Turning off the Tones and Alerts

Select models have a cycle signal option to turn off the end-of-cycle signal or tones that sound when a setting is touched. 

To turn the audio tones on/off: 

• Touch and hold CYCLE SIGNAL for about 3 seconds.  Repeat to turn them on. 
• Touch and hold the Steam Clean option for 3 seconds to turn off the tones. Repeat to turn them on.
