Removing Odors or Smells - Front Load Washer

Possible Solutions

Have you performed the "Clean Washer" cycle, or has the "Clean Washer" light come on?

Run the Clean Washer cycle every month to maintain washer freshness. This procedure helps keep odors from developing in your washer. The Clean Washer cycle uses higher water volumes in combination with affresh® washer cleaner or liquid chlorine bleach to thoroughly clean the inside of the machine. NOTE: Do not use thickened, easy-pour, or no-splash bleach when running the Clean Washer with affresh® cycle, as excess suds may occur

Have you cleaned the dispenser drawer?

The dispenser drawer should be removed and cleaned regularly per directions in your Owner's Manual.

Do you remove your clothing when the wash cycle is complete?

Always remove your clothing items as soon as possible when the wash cycle is complete. Leaving wet clothing inside the wash basket can lead to mildew, which can cause odors both in the garment and in the washer.

Are you using High Efficiency (HE) detergent in your washer?

The use of non-HE detergent can cause a film residue, which can result in odor or smell.  Always use the detergent manufacture's recommended amount of detergent.
