Not Heating - Electric Dryer

Possible Solutions

Is the dryer heating?

To test if the dryer is heating: 1. Select a heated cycle 2. Run the cycle for 5 minutes (empty dryer). 3. Open the door and feel inside.  If the dryer is heating, follow the troubleshooting information under the "Drying Performance" section of the troubleshooting guide.

Was Air Only selected?

The Air Only cycle or Air/Fluff Only does not add heat to the dryer at any time during the cycle. Air Only cycles are best used for items where no heat is desired, such as items that will shrink easily. This can also be used with a dry rack, so is convenient for sweaters or shoes. Air Only cycles work better when using a Timed Dry cycle.

Have you checked your home circuit breakers?

Electric dryers require a separate 30-amp circuit fused on both sides of the line. This means there will be 2 circuit breakers to operate the dryer. One circuit will operate the motor (turning the dryer drum), while the other circuit will operate the heating element. If one of these is tripped, the dryer may not heat. Check that both circuit breakers operating the dryer are not tripped.

Power Supply Cord Installed Correctly:

Electric dryers require a 240-volt power supply. If you do not have 240-volt, your electric dryer will not operate correctly. Check with a qualified electrician. Ensure the power cord is properly installed; refer to your installation instructions and reference the videos below for 3 and 4-wire installation.  Also, ensure the terminal screws are tight at the dryer, and unplug the dryer before checking the terminal screws.
