Unusual Sounds During Operation - Commercial Dryer
Possible Solution
Has Dryer not used for a long period?
If the dryer hasn’t been used for a while, there may be a thumping sound during the first few minutes of operation.
Has anything fallen between the drum and front or rear of the dryer?
Check if a coin, button, or paper clip is caught between the drum and front or rear of the dryer. Check the front and rear edges of the drum for small objects. Clean out pockets before laundering garments.
Is it a gas dryer?
The gas valve clicking is a normal operating sound.
Are the dryer legs installed and level?
A dryer without legs or that is missing legs, may rock or teeter on a floor that is not level, which will cause some noise. The legs adjust up and down to level the dryer on a floor that is not level. Check if any of the four dryer legs are missing. Replace any missing legs, and level the dryer both front-to-back and side-to-side, ensure all four legs are in contact with the floor.

Are cloths knotted or balled up?
When balled up, the load will bounce, causing the dryer to vibrate. Separate the load items and restart the dryer.
