How to Clean a Drip Bowl

How to Clean the Drip Bowls on your Maytag Range

Before cleaning, ensure all controls are off and the cooktop is cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products. Food spills containing acids, such as vinegar and tomato, should be cleaned as soon as the entire appliance is cool; these spills may affect the finish. Coil elements are self-cleaning; do not immerse them in water.

Removing chrome drip bowl

Before cleaning the drip bowls, the elements will need to be removed.

Chrome drip bowls:

For chrome drip bowls, use a liquid detergent or an all-purpose cleaner. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

If that’s not available, create a cleaner with the following instructions:

  1. Solution of ½ cup (125 mL) ammonia to 1 gal. (3.75 L) water.
  2. Soak for 20 minutes, then scrub with a stainless steel wool pad. If needed, use a mildly abrasive cleanser and clean with a wet scouring pad.
  3. Dry thoroughly.

Porcelain drip bowls:

Porcelain drip bowls are dishwasher safe, so feel free to run them in your dishwasher. Or use a liquid detergent or an all-purpose cleaner. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
