Odor or Smell

Possible Solutions

Are you using High Efficiency (HE) detergent in your washer?

Use of non-HE detergent can cause a film residue, which can result in odor or smell.  Always use the detergent manufacture's recommended amount of detergent.

Have you performed the "Clean Washer" cycle, or has the "Clean Washer" light come on?

Run the Clean Washer cycle every month to maintain washer freshness. This procedure helps keep odors from developing in your washer. The Clean Washer cycle uses higher water volumes in combination with Affresh™ washer cleaner or liquid chlorine bleach to thoroughly clean the inside of the washer. The wash basket should be empty when running a Clean Washer cycle.

affresh® cleaners are available at many retailers. Find one here.

Have you cleaned the dispenser drawer?

The dispenser drawer should be removed and cleaned regularly per directions in your use and care guide.

Did you remove your clothing items when the washer cycle was finished?

Always remove your clothing items as soon as possible at the completion of the wash cycle. Leaving wet clothing in the washer can lead to mildew, which can cause an odor in the clothing, as well as the washer.
